How to use the Stretch Tourniquet Band
- Positioning: Place the tourniquet under the patient’s arm, approximately 5-10 centimetres above the intended venipuncture site.
- Occluding the Vein: Pull the tourniquet snugly around the arm to occlude the vein. Avoid excessively tight tying.
- Tying: Cross one end of the tourniquet over the other and tuck the top end beneath the bottom end, keeping the ends clear for the cleansing and venipuncture process.
- Releasing: To remove, simply pull the end of the tourniquet. The less sticky material than latex, won't snap back upon release.
- Disposal: Dispose of the used tourniquet according to your institution’s safety and hygiene policies.
