An efficient and safe nasopharyngeal airway device with unique swivel grip, thermo-sensitive material, and colour-coded sizes for optimal patient comfort and ease of use.
NasoSafe airway: Our solution to challenging oxygenation scenarios.
The NasoSafe Nasopharyngeal Airway offers advanced support in ensuring open airway channels, specifically between the nostril and the nasopharynx. Crafted by Flexicare Medical, this innovative NP airway accentuates safety and enhances patient comfort. The unique swivel grip feature of NasoSafe NP airways distinguishes them in the market, effectively preventing the device from descending further into the nasopharynx and enabling 360-degree positioning for patient comfort while keeping the opposite nostril unobstructed.
What sets NasoSafe apart is its rounded tip, designed to minimise injury risk, coupled with its thermosensitive material that softens upon insertion, further reducing the chance of injury. This is particularly beneficial in nasotracheal suctioning applications. Available in six sizes, with the four most common sizes in the UK (6.0mm, 7.0mm, 8.0mm, and 9.0mm) readily available, these Nasopharyngeal Airways offer versatile sizing options for various needs.
Beyond its innovative design, the NasoSafe Nasopharyngeal Airway is essential for both emergency and long-term use, adept at bypassing obstructions at critical points like the nose, nasopharynx, or the base of the tongue. Its optimal placement above the epiglottis ensures the separation of the soft palate from the posterior wall of the oropharynx, a critical aspect for correct sizing and effective use. Not only does it prevent the airway from being too short or long, which could lead to complications, but it also acts as a reliable airway "splint", keeping the airway open, preventing hypoxia and asphyxia by maintaining patency and preventing the tongue from obstructing the airway.

What are Nasosafe Assorted Nasopharyngeal Airways used for?
The NasoSafe Nasopharyngeal Airway is designed for ventilating and oxygenating patients who are difficult to treat with standard bag-mask ventilation. Ideal for both awake and semi-conscious patients, it avoids triggering a gag reflex and is useful when oral access is limited, such as in cases of trismus or angioedema. This device acts as a temporary solution until more secure airway management, like endotracheal or nasotracheal intubation, is possible.
Primarily used in emergency and pre-operative settings, the NasoSafe is suitable for patients with conditions like strong gag reflex, limited mouth opening, cervical spine issues, or intraoral masses. It's also preferred for awake intubation, especially in patients with chronic respiratory conditions like CHF, COPD, or asthma, who can't lie supine. In these cases, the NasoSafe facilitates intubation in a sitting position, enhancing patient comfort and safety.
